Today is Autism Awareness Day!

Did you know 1 in 88 children is diagnosed with Autism?  Chances are your life will be directly or indirectly affected by Autism.

My introduction to Autism has come through association with amazingly strong and dedicated mothers working hard to provide their children with the best resources to reach their beautiful children.  The first step, EDUCATION.  Awareness begins with knowledge.

Meet Scarlett, a sweet little client of mine since she was born:

(Scarlett, age 2)

Scarlett is the fourth child in a wonderful and busy family.  Not long after her 2 year old photo session, her mom started to notice changes in her behavior, specifically regression.  Alarmed, she acted, searched out help, and Scarlett was diagnosed with Autism.

What is Autism?

"Autism is a developmental disability that comes from a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain. It is characterized by the abnormal development of communication skills, social skills, and reasoning. Males are affected four times as often as females. Children may appear normal until around the age of 30 months." AutismPDD

Now, at 3 1/2, Scarlett is thriving under the unceasing care of her parents, siblings, and community.
